Top restaurants roam the beach strip of Strand with a 3 min drive away from the Somerset West Mall. The house is located in close proximity of the Golf Course, the Lourens river and a 3 min walk to the beach.

As you already know, a car in South Africa is essential and can be booked in advance directly from your country and picked up at the airport. From the airport you drive only in half an hour to Strand. Our two houses in the Greenside complex are in a safe area.
The nearest village from Strand is Gordons Bay, which is located on the seafront and is very suitable for walking. Right at the beginning of the village you will find the cozy Cape Town Café and, near to it, an ice cream stand. (It is said that the best ice cream in the area is there). In Gordon’s Bay, you’ll also find a huge, impressive ‘book-shop’ with second-hand books.
We are within a quarter of an hour in Stellenbosch, the pretty well-known small town. Also, the famous wineries, such as Lourensford and Vergelegen are located very close to us. (We sometimes order a picnic that you can enjoy at a white table cloth table under camphor trees, served by the staff.)
Near Stellenbosch is the Post Card Café, which is located on a small lake. (There is also the possibility to walk around the lake.) If you want to eat there, you have to book in advance. We can highly recommend this restaurant.
Also, in the Strand are very good and for Swiss visitors some quite affordable restaurants. If you want to enjoy the wonderful South African wines, these places are situated at walking distances.
